Bias cut is where a piece of fabric is cut diagonally rather than vertically. This gives the fabric a greater stretch. It often makes the fabric cling to the curved parts of the body ( hips, breasts, shoulders, etc.). On the parts of the body the fabric does not cling to, an amazing drape is often formed depending on the material used.
Alexandre Vauthier is a designer who often uses the technique Bias Cut id in garmend construction. In both these pieces Vauthier added shoulder pads so the material would cling to them forming a new shape on the body.
